Jammap (jammapapp.com). Last updated 1 October 2026.
Jammap is a map of Friday prayers (Jumu’ah) and the mosques and prayer rooms that hold them. You can use the map without an account. This page says what we keep, why, and how to have it deleted.
If you just use the map
- Your location is used on your own device to show the mosques near you. To find them, the centre of the map is sent to our server with the request; it isn’t stored. Your location itself is sent to us only if you save a place (below). Your settings, such as the area you last looked at, are kept in your own browser.
- The map may be drawn by Google Maps. Google then receives your device’s internet address and the area on screen, as it does for any website that shows a Google map. If Google’s map isn’t available, the map comes from OpenStreetMap-based tiles instead.
- A mosque’s Facebook posts. Some mosque pages have a button to show the mosque’s latest Facebook posts. Nothing is loaded from Facebook until you press it; then Facebook receives your device’s internet address and may set its own cookies, under Meta’s privacy policy.
- “Search this area with Google” sends the centre of the map to Google through our server. To stop the button being overused, we keep a scrambled form (a one-way hash) of your internet address for up to a day. We cannot turn it back into your address.
If you send a Friday time
On a mosque you can choose “Send the Friday time” or “This time is wrong”. You don’t need an account. Nothing you send changes the map until a reviewer has checked it. We keep:
- the mosque, the times you give, and whether you said you’re from the mosque;
- the link you give, and the photo of the notice if you add one. The photo is kept in a private store only reviewers can open, and is deleted once it has been checked;
- your note, if you write one;
- to stop the form being overused, a scrambled form (a one-way hash) of a random id your browser or phone makes for Jammap and of your internet address, made fresh each day. We use it only to count how many times one device sends in a day, and cannot turn it back into either.
We don’t ask for your name or email. Please don’t put personal details in the note or the photo.
If you make an account
You sign in with your email address and a one-time code; there is no password. With an account we keep:
- your email address and the name you choose to show;
- the madhhab (school) you pick, if you pick one;
- the Friday prayers you say you are going to, and whether you will use the main hall or the women’s space;
- the mosques you follow and the places you save (a short label and a map position);
- if you turn on reminders, your browser’s push address, so we can send the reminder;
- reports you send us about a time or a place.
Other people see only counts, such as how many are going to a prayer, never who.
If you run a mosque’s page on Jammap
We also keep the organisation’s name and a contact name and phone number, so we can check the listing is genuine. These are not shown to the public.
Where the prayer times come from
Jammap reads times that mosques publish themselves: their websites, timetable screens, and their public Instagram and Facebook business pages. For Instagram we use Meta’s official Business Discovery API to read mosques’ public business posts. Jammap does not use Facebook or Instagram login, and does not collect personal data about Facebook or Instagram users.
Who holds the data
- Supabase stores the database and sends the sign-in emails.
- Cloudflare serves the website and forwards email sent to [email protected].
- Google provides the map and the area search, as above.
- Meta (Facebook) shows a mosque’s posts, only if you press the button for them.
- Reminders go through your browser maker’s push service (for example Google, Apple or Mozilla).
We do not sell your data, show advertising, or use tracking or analytics cookies.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
Your account data stays until you delete your account. To delete it, open Settings in the app and choose Delete my account; everything tied to it is removed straight away. Or email [email protected] from the address you signed in with. More on the data deletion page.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within a month. If you are in the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
